All-in Situations in Poker

Sometimes, more than one player can go all in. In this case the dealer divides the pot into multiple parts. In the showdown it is time to determine the winner. If it happens that the player with the best five card combination is not an all-in player he or she wins all the pots, both the main and side pot.

Going all-in can be dangerous for the beginner players, because they do not have the experience needed to take advantage of this move.

Another reason may be the mental condition of the players. It they are on tilt they can go all in just like that. Besides, it is a good idea to go all-in if you think that someone is trying to bluff you.

If you want to go all in you should consider the situation properly. It is a well-known fact that this move can save you, but it can also fail you. It is not recommended to go all-in in the early stages of No Limit Texas Holdem tournaments because by this way you will put your tournament life on the line, which isn’t necessary when you are still in the early stages of the tournament. In cash games this is not much of an issue because you can always reload, and it is actually recommended to shove all-in vs tight players to maximize fold equity to get folds.
